I think this book was better than the first - all the different story lines overlapped and came together nicely, and it answered questions I had from the first book about the setting. The Lonely Whelk is wonderful continuation of Sieling's zany, humorous, and engaging scifi universe. This novel employs time travel, teleportation, attempted robbery, and a whimsical book of proverbs to bring together a dynamic cast of characters in their quest to preserve technological secrets and save the day. John and Quin, with the help of some new Globe employees, prove their mettle once more. Breezed through it in a day and can't wait for the next one!
Ariele never fails to impress with her incredible story telling! A definite must read for any fan of the sci-fi genre or if you're looking to get into something new!
Great little sci-fi book which is stylistically reminiscent of Terry Pratchett, but with space travel. This is second in a series, with more to come, although I don't think you need to read the in order to make sense of what is going on (first book is <a href="http//www./gp/product/1482735857/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1482735857&linkCode=as2&tag=thesecrelifeo-20&linkId=LCQOMKY3UA7IYWBP">The Clock Winked</a>). It's a fun read, even if you're not into sci-fi.
The central concept to this series is a government agency which is exploring how a new teleportation technology works, and the chaos that can ensue. These books explore some interesting concepts around various hypothetical advanced technologies (sentient AI / inter stellar travel / etc), and I'm looking forward to future books in the series.
The Lonely Whelk is the third book in this series by Ariele Sieling. I have read and enjoyed all three. I would rate them all five stars just for the pleasure I got from reading them. Not your usual sci-fi novels but thoroughly enjoyable. Clean read too, which is important to me.
